Cholesterol Reduction

Types of Cholesterol, and the Impact on Your Health

Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL)

Low density lipoprotein (LDL) is called the "bad" form of cholesterol. LDL carries most of the cholesterol in the blood, and the cholesterol from LDLs is the main source of damaging accumulation and blockage in the arteries. Thus, the more LDLcholesterol you have in your blood, the greater your risk of disease. If you have coronary heart disease (CHD) and your LDL is higher than 100 mg/dL (2.5 mmol/L), your cholesterol may well be too high for you

High Density Lipoprotein (HDL)

High density lipoprotein (HDL) is called the "good" form of cholesterol. HDL picks up and transports cholesterol in the blood back to the liver, which leads to its elimination from the body. HDL can help keep LDL cholesterol from building up in the walls of the arteries. If your level of HDL cholesterol is below 35 mg/dL (0.9 mmol/L), you are at substantially higher risk for CHD. The higher your HDL cholesterol level, the better. The average HDL-cholesterol for men is about 45 mg/dL (1.1 mmol/L), and for women it is about 55 mg/dL (1.4 mmol/L)

Triglycerides (TG)

Triglycerides are a form of fat carried through the bloodstream. Most of your body's fat is in the form of triglycerides stored in fat tissue. Only a small portion of your triglycerides are found in the bloodstream. High blood triglyceride levels alone do not cause atherosclerosis. But lipoproteins that are rich in triglycerides also contain cholesterol, which causes atherosclerosis in many people with high triglycerides. So high triglycerides may be a sign of a lipoprotein problem that contributes to CHD.

Here are the 1999 dietary recommendations from the American Heart Association:

"Cholesterol is found in meat, poultry, seafood and dairy products. Foods from plants-such as fruits, vegetables, vegetable oils, grains, cereals, nuts, and seeds-don't contain cholesterol. Chicken, turkey, and fish contain about the same amount of cholesterol as do lean beef, lamb and pork."

2. Asal segala penyakit ialah sejuk. Oleh itu makanlah apabila anda kehendaki atau perlu dan jangan makan apabila tidak perlu

3. Perut itu rumah segala penyakit dan puasa raja segala ubat. Oleh itu jadikanlah ia kebiasaan anda.

4. Pada pandangan Allah, makanan yang paling baik ialah makanan yang dimakan beramai-ramai.

5. Makan seorang diri semasa sarapan pagi ialah makan dengan syaitan. Makan dengan seorang lain ialah makan dengan raja yang zalim, makan dengan dua orang lagi ialah makan dengan para Nabi a.s

6. Biarkan makananmu agak sejuk sebelum memakannya, kerana makanan yang panas itu tidak berkat.

7. Apabila makan tinggalkan kasutmu kerana dengan itu kakimu lebih rehat. Inilah nasihat yang baik.

8. Ada keberkatan pada makanan di tengah pinggan. Oleh itu mulakan makan makanan yang ditepi pinggan dulu, bukan mula dari tengah (pengertian hadith ini ialah seseorang itu hendaklah jangan tamak iaitu mementingkan diri sendiri dan hendaklah membenarkan orang lain mendapat berkat, jangan seorang diri saja)

9. Ada keberkatan dalam tiga perkara: dalam sarapan pagi, dalam roti dan dalam sup

10. Berus gigi dengan 'miswak' selepas makan dan kemuadian berkumur-kumur kerana amalan ini adalah penjaga gigi.

11. Gunakan 'miswak' kerana amalan ini datang dari kebersihan, dan kebersihan datang dari iman dan iman membawa seseorang itu ke syurga.

12. Makanan dalam pinggan itu memohon rahmat bagi orang yang makan sehingga habis langsung (iaitu tidak membazir)

13. Makan bersama barulah bersurai, kerana keberkatan itu ada dalam kumpulan.

18. Ketika saya mikraj, tidak ada seorang pun Malaikat pun yang tidak berkata, " Wahai Muhammad s.a.w beritahu ummatmu supaya berbekam. Rawatan yang paling baik adalah berbekam, ketumbar dan sejenis herba (costus).

19. Siapa yang sakit selama 7 hari, maka ia adalah penebus dosa selama 70 tahun.

20. Tidak ada sakit seperti sakit dalam mata dan tidak ada kerungsingan seperti kerungsingan kerana berhutang.

21. Apabila Nabi Muhammad s.a.w melawat orang sakit, baginda biasanya berkata, "Hindarilah pedaya iblis, kekuatan itu kerana dengan Allah, sembuh dan disembuhkan, tidak ada yang menyembuhkan melainkan Engkau".

The Benefits of Honey Mentioned in the Quran


Your Lord revealed to the bees: "Build dwellings in the mountains and the trees, and also in the structures which people erect. Then eat from every kind of fruit and travel the paths of your Lord, which have been made easy for you to follow." From inside them comes a drink of varying colors, containing healing for humanity. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who reflect. (Surat an-Nahl: 68-69)

Dan Tuhanmu telah mewahyukan (mengilhamkan) kepada lebah: Buatlah rumah di atas bukit dan di atas pohon kayu dan pada apa yang mereka jadikan atap. Kemudian makanlah bermacam-macam buah-buahan, dan laluilah jalan Tuhanmu dengan mudah. Keluar dari dalam perutnya minuman (madu) yang berlainan warnanya, untuk menyembuhkan (penyakit) manusia. Sesungguhnya pada demikian itu menjadi tanda (atas kekuasaan Allah) bagi kaum yang memikirkan (Surah an-Nahl: 68-69)

Honey, along with its vitamins and minerals, is a great benefit for human health. It consists of sugar (glucose and fructose), minerals (calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium chlorine, sulfur, iron and phosphorus), and vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and C) .In addition, it contains small amounts of several kinds of hormones, copper, iodine, and zinc - in other words, almost everything that the human body needs.

The following information was released during the World Apiculture Conference held in 1993:
During the conference, a special session was held on the treatments associated with honey derivatives. American scientists stated that honey, royal jelly, pollen and propolis (bee resin) cure many diseases. A doctor from Romania said he tried honey on cataract patients, and 2002 out of his 2094 patients had full (95%) recovery. Polish doctors also informed that honeybee resin cure many diseases such as haemorrhoids, skin problems, gynaecological diseases and several other disorders .

Another feature of honey is that, compared with the same amount of sugar, it contains 40% less calories. Thus although it is a great energy provider, it does not add weight.
This low-calorie and tasty juice is easily digestable. Since honey's fructose molecules can convert into glucose, honey, despite its high acid content, is digested easily even by those suffering from stomach disorders.

Honey helps the kidneys and intestines to function better. Due to its free sugar molecules, it has a similar effect upon the brain. Meanwhile, it cleanses blood and the bloodstream and is instrumental in blood production. With the vast amount of energy it releases, it has the capacity needed to produce the energy that produces blood.

Honey protects the body against capillary problems and arteriosclerosis, and also kills bacteria. When accompanied with mild water, it mixes into the bloodstream within only 7 minutes, and thus is a good and fast curative for the body. When diluted with water, it acquires an antiseptic quality. Apart from this, honey contains such antibacterial chemicals as benzyl alcohol and many others.

The contribution of honeybees to human health is not limited to honey, for they also produce another product: royal jelly. Royal jelly, a strong-smelling substance secreted by worker bees to feed the queen bee, is another blessing for people, for it includes such minerals as phosphorus, calcium, iron, sodium, potassium and magnesium, vitamins B2, B3, and B6, as well as proteins and carbohydrates.
Royal jelly is used to treat disorders caused by tissue deficiency, arteriosclerosis, or bodily frailty.

Terapi Solat (2)


Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda:

Sesungguhnya perumpamaan solat itu umpama sungai mengalir di muka pintu salah seorang, maka ia mandi daripadanya lima kali sehari, apakah ada sisa dari kotorannya?

Jawab sahabat: tidak ada sisa kekotorannya sedikitpun.

Maka sabda Nabi s.a.w : Demikian pula contoh dari solat lima waktu, menghapuskan dosa.

Solat sebagai pembersih hati

Bila hati seseorang telah bersih dan selalu berhubungan dengan Tuhannya, pasti lambat laun akan terbuka baginya tirai/pintu ghaib

Solat membuka kepada pintu ilmu dan makrifat

Solat itu sebagai tempat bermunajat (menyampaikan hajat) kepada Allah, serta memanjatkan puji syukur dan sebagai tempat pembersihan hati dari berbagai kotoran. Terbuka bebas di dalamnya datangnya berbagai rahsia-rahsia Tuhan.Dan terbit terang padanya cahaya-cahaya ilmu dan makrifat.

Terapi solat

KAJIAN saintifik tiga pensyarah Universiti Malaya membuktikan solat yang diwajibkan kepada umat Islam setiap hari, bukan hanya amalan kerohanian tetapi terbukti mempunyai hikmah tersirat terhadap fizikal dan mental terutama meningkatkan tahap kesihatan manusia.

SOLAT sebagai rukun Islam yang wajib dilakukan setiap umat Islam sudah banyak dikaji dari sudut kerohanian. Bagaimanapun, pernahkah kita berfikir mengenai pengertian setiap gerakan solat seperti qiyam, rukuk, sujud, duduk antara dua sujud serta tahiyat awal dan tahiyat akhir.

Adakah gerakan itu hanya sekadar gerakan tubuh yang tidak mempunyai makna? Kajian sains moden mendedahkan bahawa amalan yang dilakukan lima kali setiap hari bukan hanya suatu amalan kerohanian yang mendekatkan hamba kepada penciptanya. Kehebatan solat ternyata memanfaatkan tubuh manusia. Hasil kajian saintifik membuktikan kewajipan terhadap setiap umat Islam mempunyai hikmah tersirat terhadap fizikal dan mental manusia.

Lebih membanggakan bukti itu diperoleh hasil kajian anak tempatan, termasuk seorang bukan Islam. Mereka adalah pensyarah Jabatan Kejuruteraan Biomedikal di Fakulti Kejuruteraan Universiti Malaya (UM) yang diketuai Profesor Madya Dr Fatimah Ibrahim bersama Profesor Wan Abu Bakar Wan Abas dan Ng Siew Cheok.

Penggerak kajian ini ialah Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi dan melalui geran Jabatan Perdana Menteri (JPM), kajian itu bermatlamat menentukan nilai terapeutik solat terhadap mereka yang melakukan solat, termasuk dari segi sistem kardiovaskular, komposisi tubuh, isyarat otak dan aktiviti otot.

Dr Wan Abu Bakar ketika memperjelaskan kajian itu berkata, mereka adalah jurutera bioperubatan yang mengkaji tubuh manusia dari segi kejuruteraan. Katanya, kajian itu cuba melihat apa yang sebenar berlaku kepada fizikal dan mental manusia ketika melakukan solat.

“Kajian dibahagikan kepada beberapa bahagian, iaitu saya mengkaji aktiviti otot, Siew Chok mengkaji isyarat otak, iaitu apa yang berlaku kepada gelombang otak ketika solat. Dr Fatimah mengkaji komposisi tubuh,” katanya.

Beliau yang mengkaji aktiviti otot memberitahu manusia perlu sentiasa melakukan regangan dan senaman kerana otot menjadi lebih kuat apabila diguanakan

Katanya hasil kajian mendapati solat yang membabitkan aktivitu tubuh seperti berdiri, tunduk dan bongkok menyamai senaman ringan.

'Kebanyakan otot dan sendi bergerak ketika solat. Umat Islam beruntung kerana solat yang wajib dilakukan setiap hari menyamai aktiviti senaman dan regangan yang memperkuatkan sistem otot dan fizikal tubuh'. Katanya

Malah katanya solat sama seperti terapi fizikal yang jika dilakukan secara berterusan dan betul akan menghasilkan kesan positif pada tubuh

Beliau berkata kajian lebih teliti sedang dilakukan untuk mengenalpasti otot yang aktif ketika solat


Ng Siew Chok-Isyarat Otak
Beliau berkata perubahan kimia berlaku apabila otak aktif. Proses kimia yang menyebabkan pergerakan ion atau atom yang membawa cas elektrik boleh diukur menggunakan elektrod yang diletakkan di pada kulit kepala.
Sejenis alat iaitu EEG (electroencephalography) digunakan untuk mengukur isyarat otak daripada aktiviti elektrik.
'Gelombang otak mempunyai beberapa frekuensi irama yang dipengaruhi oleh keadaan fizikal dan emosi. Jenis gelombang otak Alfa (8-13 Hz) menunjukkan keadaan tenang', katanya.
Walaupun bukan Islam, Siew Chok kagum terhadap hasil kajian yang dilakukannya apabila mendapati keadaan dan pemikiran orang selepas bersolat tenang dan menyamai keadaan selepas bangun tidur.
"Ada fenomena menarik dalam solat iaitu keadaan berdiri seketika sebelum sujud sebagai peringkat paling tenang ketika solat. Saya bukan Islam dan diberitahu bahawa keadaan itu ialah tamakninah." katanya
Ketika itu katanya isyarat Alfa meningkat secara mendadak yang menunjukkan seseorang itu berada dalam keadaan tenang.
Siew Chok juga berkata solat memperkuatkan penumpuan terhadap sesuatu perkara dan memperkuatkan kuasa otak.
Sehubungan itu juga katanya, solat membolehkan seseorang itu menyediakan otak untuk lebih bersedia terhadap sesuatu cabaran yang perlu dihadapinya dalam aktiviti seharian.
Dr. Fatimah Ibrahim-Komposisi Tubuh
Beliau berkata, komposisi tubuh mengandungi empat komponen utama iaitu tisu aktif, tisu tulang, komponen air dan lemak.
Dalam kajian ini katanya, model untuk mendapatkan komposisi tubuh terbaik adalah dengan melakukan lima perkara iaitu-solat lima kali sehari, memahami bacaan dalam solat, solat berjemaah, rukuk dengan betul (90 darjah) dan melentikkan jari kaki ketika duduk antara sujud dan tahyat akhir.
Dr Fatimah berkata, orang yang tidak melakukan lima perkara ini tidak mempunyai komposisi tubuh yang baik
Katanya kajian mendapati orang yang sembahyang berjemaah mempunyai kesihatan lebih baik berbanding yang solat secara bersendirian.
"Kita mendapati apabila seseorang solat berjemaah, mereka bersentuh bahu ke bahu. Tubuh manusia seperti bateri.Ketika bersolat, cas tubuh mengalir seperti dalam litar dan akhirnya meneutralkan cas tubuh.
"Sebelum solat, ada yang penat dan ada yang tidak penat. Ketika solat, orang yang tidak penat akan mengalirkan cas positif terhadap orang yang letih dan mempunyai cas negatif." katanya.
Ini yang menyebabkan orang yang selalu solat berjemaah sentiasa bertenaga dan lebih tenang.
Selain itu katanya, posisi tubuh (posture) solat dapat mengubat sakit pinggang. Malah jika berjumpa doktor, pesakit disuruh melakukan senaman seperti berdiri dan dan membongkokkan tubuh yang menyamai gerakan solat.
Selain itu didapati solat dapat membantu pesakit disfungsi erektil (ED)
Kajian juga mendapati semasa sujud, kadar denyutan jantung adalah paling rendah dan ini bermanafaat untuk pesakit jantung.

Menurut Ibnu Qayim a-Jauziyah juga, doa memiliki pengaruh terhadap penyembuhan penyakit kerana doa pada hakikatnya adalah TENAGA bukan material yang diarahkan kpd penyakit. Berdasarkan itu dapat dirumuskan ketentuan-ketentuan berikut:-

1-Berat tenaga doa lebih besar drpd penyakit, maka peluang sembuh lebih besar

2-Berat tenaga doa dgn penyakit adalah seimbang (sama), maka peluang bagi sembuh lambat

3-Berat penyakit lebih besar drpd doa, justeru peluang untuk sembuh kecil

Hakikat Penyakit


Menurut Ibnu Qayim al-Jauziyah dalam al-Thib al-Nabawi, secara umum, penyakit itu dapat dibahagikan kpd 2 jenis:-

pertama-penyakit hati atau jiwa

kedua-penyakit badan atau jasad


Manakala yang dimaksudkan dgn
penyakit adalah satu keadaan jasmani dan rohani yang hilang keseimbangan dan keharmonian dalam hubungan dengan unsur-unsur yang ada pada rohani ataupun jasmani.

Seterusnya menurut Ibnu Qayim, yang dimaksudkan dengan
penyakit rohani (kalbu) adalah keadaan kalbu yang keluar daripada kesihatan dan keharmoniannya, yang dapat dilihat dengan gerakan menyimpang daripada garis aktiviti mentauhidkan Allah dan mencintai-Nya

Kewujudan penyakit kalbu ada disebutkan dlm al-Quran. Antaranya dlm surah-surah berikut: al-Baqarah ayat 7 dan 94, Muhammad ayat 24, an-Nahl ayat 108, al-Ahzab ayat 32 dan al-Muddatssir ayat 31. Menurut Ibnu Qayim, berdasarkan ayat-ayat itu,


dapat dilihat dan difahami penyakit kalbu akan mempengaruhi penyakit jasmani.

Diantara contoh penyakit rohani adalah munafik, ragu-ragu atas kekuasaan Allah, melakukan dosa, perilaku kejam dan zalim, melayani keinginan hawa nafsu diluar syariat.

Manakala penyakit jasad adalah keadaan jasmani yang hilang keseimbangan dan keharmonian antara unsur-unsur asal fizikal, iaitu unsur panas drpd api, unsur sejuk drpd air, unsur halus drpd hawa dan unsur ketenangan daripada bumi.

Menurut Ibnu Qayim, terjadinya keadaan tidak seimbang antara unsur-unsur itu disebabkan oleh unsur-unsur makan yang isyraf (berlebihan) menurut aturan hukum dan pengaruh drp penyakit kalbu..

Near Death Experience


Ever wonder, what will happen when you die?

We are fortunate, some people who already 'died' (or very near to it) able to recall their experience and tell us their stories!

These are called Near Death Experience

A near-death experience (NDE) refers to a broad range of personal experiences associated with impending death, encompassing multiple possible sensations ranging from detachment from the body, feelings of levitation, extreme fear, total serenity, security, or warmth, the experience of absolute dissolution, and the presence of a light, which some people interpret as a deity.Some see NDEs as a paranormal and spiritual glimpse into the afterlife

Such cases are usually reported after an individual has been pronounced clinically dead, or otherwise very close to death, hence the entitlement near-death experience. Many NDE reports, however, originate from events that are not life threatening. With recent developments in cardiac resuscitation techniques, the number of NDEs reported has increased. Most of the scientific community regards such experiences as hallucinatory,while paranormal specialists and some mainstream scientists claim them to be evidence of an afterlife.

Typically, the experience follows a distinct progression:

1. A very unpleasant sound/noise is the first sensory impression to be noticed
2. A sense of being dead;
3. Pleasant emotions; calmness and serenity;
4. An out-of-body experience; a sensation of floating above one's own body and seeing the surrounding area;
5. Floating up a blue tunnel with a strong, bright light or garden at the end;
6. Meeting deceased relatives or spiritual figures;
7. Encountering a being of light, or a light (often interpreted as being the deity or deities they personally believe in);
8. Being given a life review (the "life-flashing-before-your-eyes" phenomenon);
9. Reaching a border or boundary;
10. A feeling of being returned to the body, often accompanied by a reluctance.
11. Feeling of warmth even though naked.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Remember that, we live not just in our physical but in at least four different realms ie mental, emotional, spiritual (the 'inner' world') and physical (the 'outer' world).

Anything wrong with our inner world will be manifested in our physical counterpart.If we get a disease ( a physical manifestation), that means there must be something wrong in our inner part.Got it?

So treatment of any diseases (especially the chronic ones) must address the 'root' issue ie exploring one's mental, spiritual and emotional diagnoses before looking hard for physical diagnosis. Well, that is all about holistic medicine, my frens

The problem with modern allopathic medicine healers is they are mainly concern on the diagnosis and treatment of the physical part. Not to say it is not important, but this is at best serves as a 'quick fix' and 'superficial' method of healing. No wonder, despite all the modern technologies and 'wonder' drugs, chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, cancer etc etc are on alarming rate, all this while. We are at the tip the of iceberg!






It is the time we go back to the basics!

It is only now found that emotion plays a greater role in disease causation, contrary to the old thoughts!. Some experts believe that emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses.

Imagine if we can treat this 'emotional' cause of diseases as mentioned above! how many cases of diabetes, cancer, heart attack, depression, anxiety, migraine,SLE etc can be prevented or even cured??

EFT works by 'unblocking' the flow of bioenergy through meridian channels in our body. This blockage of bioenergy is caused by our emotional stress and this leads to body illnesses.

EFT is very simple to learn and done. It is actually done by tapping various parts of your body with your fingers in the correct sequence while thinking and saying a specific empowering phrase. (Depends on which area of your life you want to work on). You can literally learn it in a couple of minutes and you can do it literally everywhere.
